My work/dailydriver/tow rig is a 2003 Chevy Avilanch. It runs great, but isnt very fast or tow friendly. 16.4 with 20" rims and 33" tires.
It has a 5.3 with Exhaust and that is it.
Just wondering what kind of power you thought i could get with a cam swap (good
drivable cam but big as poss!) new springs and ls1 edit tune.
Im thinking with this I would see at least 30 rwhp. Does this sound right with stock 5.3 heads and manifolds? I run 93 anyway, but this would also make power with just the ls1 edit tune.
Thanks for the help.
Also looking at a ram air kit. Im not trying to make a race truck, But 30 hp would be nice for jumping on the highway, and pulling my tralor and car!

I helped put a cam in my buddy's 5.3 GMC full size, he picked up over 30 HP with the stock heads, intake and exhaust manifolds, and that was with a Crane cam that wasn't the most radical available.
I was able to sneak out to the SEMA show for a couple of days, and saw where Crane is releasing a programmer for LS motor trucks with the cam profiles already in it. This could be exactly what your looking for.
Bottom line, with the stock heads, a cam, springs, and even a rocker arm swap could give you between 40 to 60 horsepower increase easy.
