Yea sorry I thought you knew that. I was meaning to get an ls2 block instead of using your ls1. If you are determined to use your ls1 then for the same price of the 383 kit I would use a 4.1 or 4.125 kit to make 395-396 ci. But I still perfer the ls2 402 set up.

I admit I misunderstood what you said about the 402. I was preoccupied with something else. No biggie. 396 doesn't seem bad.

396ci is what I run and the torque is ungodly! But what you need to do is sit down with a pen and paper and figure up price differences between stroking your current block and stroking an ls2. I have a max effort 396 set up using an ls6 block but for the money I could have taken that same rotating assembly and put it in an ls3 block for 427 ci and went with ported ls3 heads. It just depend on your budget. When I had mine done the l92/ls3 heads weren't out yet heck the ls2s were barely out at that time. I'm just trying to help you put your money in the right places. Best bang for he buck. Because my build is EXPENSIVE when you figure in everything else that had to be done to make it optimal exspecially if you plan on nitrous down the road. If you do plan on using spray then stick with 383 or the 4.1 kit for 395 over the 4.125 396 set up.

Keep in mind there is added machine work when you buy the stroker kit, its not just bolt in and go, gotta make sure the main and rod journals are square, especially on eagle cranks, eagle or scat I cant remember.

If it were me, id build a decent 383 or 396 and keep checking the clasifieds for new, near new, or good used heads and a FAST intake/TB combo. Some killer deals in the sale section right now, maybe could even find some parts for teh stroker or just buy a motor.

an aftermarket shortblock would be the way to go. then sell yours or keep it as a backup.
