Default Quick Spring Question

I'm installing a set of comp 918's (new versions) on a set of 243 heads on an LS6. Going with a comp cam at 222/224 .565" .568" on a 112 LSA. I just wanted to ensure the 918's 125 pounds seated pressure would be fine for this cam if installed with stock hardware at 1.8".

I'm use to LT's not LS's and thought I'd double check before I button it up. It'll be shifted at stock redline or only a little over too.

Thanks for your time.

Those springs are fine, Im running close to the same cam specs with boost on top of it and have had zero problems and no valve float either.

Yes, those 918s will be just fine for that cam. Might want to reconsider your shift point though if you want to take advantage of the new cam. That cam will most likely make peak horsepower near the stock rev limit which is 6200, so you'll need to shift it a little higher than that. If I was to make an educated guess, I would say around 6400-6500 anyway. Only way to know for sure would be to get it installed, and after you get her on the dyno and dialed in, see where the peak hp is and how it falls off and start trying out the diff shift points and see what it likes.

My car for example peaks at 6400, and of all the shift points I tried, 6700 yielded the best trap speed, any higher didnt slow down, but didnt pick up either. FWIW, thats where the shift light is set, the shift actually occurs more around 68xx.

Hope that info helps you out when the time comes.

Thanks guys, I'm not new to cams or valvetrains, but a little unfamiliar with the LS. I figured the shift point should be bumped, I'll try to get him to set it at 6,500 for starters (friends Z06) but we'll see what I can talk him if you know what I mean lol.

He was trapping at 116 stock, so I'm curious what he'll be able to do now with Kooks LT's and this new cam.

Thanks again!

If its a ZO6 the limiter will already be set to 6500. Its 6200 for the LS1, which I assumed that's what we were talking about. I now see where in your first post you said LS6. No big deal, all the info will still apply.
