what would get me the power??
I have a 2000 SS, A4. My goal is 500rwhp. I just want to know the best way to get there. I am weighing my options out of buying a LS2 402ci crate motor which is complete or building my stock LS1 which only has 50k miles on it. I have thought stroker kit, Heads Cam, intake,etc... for my original but wonder what is the best way to go.. the crate motor is $9,000 not counting i want to go in and buy a 9" rearend, beef up the tranny, stall, subframe connectors etc... I really dont want to put more than 10 grand in all of it but I will if i need to cause I want to do it right. I am not the best with the LS series engines and dont know the best bang for the buck... So any help would be greatly appreciated. Maybe some tips on what to buy and where or opinions on the 402 (550 hp not at the wheels... from Golen Engine Service). What is everyone else running for that #?
Thanks
ps. I want the car to be streetable as well

In your situation the best bang for the buck would be a cam only setup+spray, or heads/cam+spray.
A mid to upper 220-low 230s duration cam and 3500-4000ish stall would be a great place to start, then whatever N2O kit suits you. Of course with all the supporting bolt-ons like long tube headers, lid, under drive pulley, ported throttle body, and LS6 intake. Heads would be even better for more kick when your not spraying.
In an A4 the 10 bolt will hold for a while, especially on the street with no more than a drag radial out back.
This is just one of the easiest and cheapest ways to your goal.
