hey guys i just completely built a ls1 for my truck, got everything worked out for the most part and tried to spin it with the starter to check oil pressure there was nothing im scared to try any more dont wanna hurt the motor. i cant start it just yet bc i dont have it tuned for the injectors and whatnot.. i was hoping to get some advise

It takes 4 seconds to get an oil pressure reading after an engine has started running, so I don't think you are going to move the guage just by cranking.

we had the same problem on my brothers build.....go to horsepowertv.com and look at their ls1 build they run into the same problem and they show you step by step on how to fix it.......i dont remember everything off hand

 

on my new build, i took out the fuel relay and unplugged the coils, tuned key over for about 15 seconds 2 times and mine built up pressure. then i fired her up.

My engine took quite a while to initially build pressure also.

FWIW, my 3800 engines used to have this issue, and I'd pack the oil pump with vaseline so that it didn't spin empty for so long, and that built pressure much more quickly.
