Default Needing some smart advice ('02 LS6 cam)

Could you install the '02 LS6 cam in an LS1? I ask this because of the smaller base circle. LS1=19.7mm '02 LS6=19.0mm Does the valvetrain geometry need to be corrected? Has anyone heard of anyone running this cam without some kind of correction i.e longer pushrods etc.? Is a correction even needed?
Thanks
Ryan

Yes you can with new springs. Dont need new push rods.

I asked this same question a while back. The stock pushrods are fine. If you wanted ideal valvtrain geometry you would need pushrods that are about .027" longer (I'm told), that would be special order. With the Z06 valvesprings, I wouldn't run at 6500 RPM's unless I also installed the lighter valves that were used with that cam.

Push rod lenght is calculated from the difference in the radius of the cam which is half of the base circle. The 19.7mm stated above is the radius, not the base circle. Therefore push rod lenght would need to be approx. .027" longer, which should be ok without changing the lenght. Correct lash has about a .040" range so this would be within if you were correct to start with.

No problems here either! I love it for now, until I go bigger in the future.

You dont need to change valve springs or pushrods...ive installed it in about 30 cars (several ls1 f-bodys and 5.3 trucks), some with 30-40k miles on the cam now with stock valvesprings...no need to change.

I Did the swap this summer along with 1.85 rockers, stock length pushrods, stock lifters, titanium retainers and stonger valve springs, stock injectors, and stock tuning and my car sounds like a sewing machine. Im guessing the rockers are causing this but i dont know for sure yet. I have ran great numbers with the cam so far though. My best to date is 12.10@112 with 20 degrees of timing and KR the entire run.

Waht valvespring are you running with this cam and 1.85 RRs.You should be putting over.600 lift witth that setup.I love this cam,all I replaced were the valvesprings and the cam.

They are the SLP Valvesprings. The springs are borderline for that much lift but i only planned on using them until winter.
