Default Does this sound like my rings are bad?

01 Formula, 127k miles, mostly highway
f13 cam, ls6 intake, bolt ons, pushrods, springs, new valve seals.

On the way to work, my low oil light comes on. I had changed my oil about 1k ago with mobile 1 5w30 high milage synthetic. Check the oil, its low, it takes a quart and a half about and its back to a good level. I had checked it randomly over the last 1k miles and it def. wasn't that low.
-There is no oil leaking anywhere under the car, its clean as hell.
-I have a catch can as well.
-Checked the pcv, wasn't clogged but wasn't clean, so I replaced it.
-The car needs a retune and its running rich.
-I had noticed it smoking out the pipes occationally, but would go away.
-Driving back from work that night, I notice its pretty much constantly blowing a little smoke out the tailipipes at idle.
-It looked like I had a small leak on the driver side valve cover, but NOT enough to cause any major difference, just a lil oil, so I replaced the valve cover gasket.

At this point, I was thinking that I have bad rings and am getting blowby? What do you guys think? Thanks in advance!

And if it is my rings, how much should I expect to spend to get this problem resovled.

yeah i would lean towards rings. u said it smokes then stops... so im sure the oil helps seal the rings to stop the smoking.

I had noticed it smoking occationally when I was backing into a parking spot over the past month. Then it stopped completely, or atleast not that I could see, for about 2 weeks. Then all of a sudden this low oil light and it smoking.

do a compression and leakdown test to find out for sure.

its possible its the valve seals. did you seat them properly when you installed the cam? how long ago did the cam go in?

I bought the car from a friend, and he put the cam in some couple thousand miles ago, not sure the exact amount, but somewhere in the last 10k. They put new valve seals at that time. What is required to do a compression test myself, I'd rather not pay some random mechanic here to do it.
