Default Cam install, what am I missing???

I have a 2002 Z28 6-speed with headders and other bolt ons. The car had 37k and I have never serviced anytying yet tune up wise. I am about to do a cam install.

I bought a brand new set of 243 heads with yellow springs and sodium filled valves.

I bought a set of 918 springs.

I am about to purchase a TR230 cam this week

I have new 7.100 pushrods

I have a new LS2 timing chain someone gave me

I have to buy GM head gaskets and spark plugs

I have both assesory bets which are new GM

I have upper and lower radiator hose wich are also both new GM

I have a gallon of dex cool oil and filter

What am I forgetting? Does the timing cover have a gasket? What else?

Thanks and Happy 4th of july

7.100" PR's are not going to work. I would think you would need 7.425" or so but best to measure before ordering new PR's anyways. The timing chain cover does require a new gasket and you should put a new front crankshaft oil seal in the timing cover while you're at it. You will also need some RTV sealant for the bottom of the timing cover when you reassemble it plus loctite for various bolts. Obviously waterpump gaskets will be required too.

+1 on the pushrods and the rtv sealant. def add a set of waterpump seals to your list along with a new crank bolt.. If you dont have an underdrive pulley now would be a good time to upgrade i wish i told myself this my last cam swap.

Where did you get that pushrod measurement? I don't know all the ins/outs but that is extremely short and don't see it working!

yeah that pushrod length is way to short! when i did my cam swap i also replaced all of my head bolts and the bold for your underdrive pully. i just went with the stock gm bolts and regreted she crap out of it. spring for arp head bolts if you can, you just tq it to the required tq and its good. the tq sequence for the stock bolts sucks *** and is damn near impossible to do by yourself!

I was going to order the cam and head swap kit from thunder racing. But a buddy of mine gave me some pasrts he didnt use. I have a package of pushrods but I believe they are the 7.100 length. I am nto sure if thats the correct length for my car. I am researching it now, seems its not the right length. I see in the cam kits they offer intake runner, water pump and exaust manifold gaskets, i forgot to mention I have those. I think I will have to find the correct length pushrods or reuse the old ones, Im pretty sure thats about all I will need, until I get it apart and realize what I forgot of course.
