Hello all I just bought a 2002 SS M6 LE with 27k on it. My SLP number is C-286 I called SLP the other day and she told me that it was a Canadian LE SS one of 369. I wanted to know if I run the car normal how reliable are the trans and motor? This is my first chevy I do love it. I was just wandering if purchasing a warranty is it worth the extra money? The Chevy dealer I purchased it from offered me one I said no at first but hate second quessing myself. Just wanted some advice thanks.

I wouldn't get the warrenty. The ls1/t56 is a reliable drive train, if taken care of.

Default C286

Thanks for the advice I will change the oil with mobil 1 and take very good care of it. One of the reasons I bought the car was because of Corvette article I read about how good the LS1 motors and trans are with minimal maintenance. Now I am hearing it from LS1 owners here. Also what is the normal operating temperature of these camaros mine while I am driving stays slightly below 210 and while idling for 5 minutes or so it creaps to about 215 or so then the fans kick on and starts going back toward 210. Is this perfectly normal all the time and should I expect this? I had a 2005 GTO and it stayed the same. I know this is a older car just some advice thanks.

You had a 05 gto...you know they have the ls1 too right?...yeah around 210-215 is normal. If it goes way up then you have to worry, but otherwise its fine.

The stock gauge is more of a idiot light, with the stock 190 stat the gauge will stay right around the 210 mark. I have a obd2 scan gauge with a 160 stat and the fans set to 180 and the oem gauge reads 210 and the scan gauge will read 180-190 for the actual temp.
