Blown Motor
i have a 2000 z28 that i purchased with a hole in the side of the block,for a fair price,real clean etc....
i have a LQ4 with 40K miles on it,sitting in the garage and a 04 z06 cam and springs.
is there any tips or tricks that i need to know about when doing this swap?
i was wanting to know what gasket set etc..., i need to purchase for doing such a swap,etc...
i know everyone is going to say put a different cam in,but i have the cam, it was free. therefore i want to use it.
thanks for any help that can be offered

Being a LQ4, I would seriously look at raising the compression.
You can do this by either milling your heads or better yet get a set of heads from a LS2, mill to 59cc and run those with the LS6 cam. That would get you at least as much power as a LS2.
The rest is pretty much a direct swap of the peripheral items and a tune to get the most out of it.

You might have to drill out the boss in the block for your F body alternator bracket. The truck block probly has the boss, but its most likely undrilled. Place your bracket in place, and bolt up the bolts you can, and then use a drill bit that snugly fits into the centre of the hole and give it a light tap with a hammer to show you the centre. Remove your bracket and with a small bit drill a pilot hole. Then use a 11/32" bit for the final hole. Tap it after with the correct tap. Use plenty of cutting oil, and take your time to get the hole straight. Dont go too deep, but go deep enough. There is at least one other thread on here that talks about this. Good luck. I havent done this to my 4.8L, but I will have to one day I think.
