How much lift can these springs handle? I have seen one place say .600 and I have seen a place say .625. Which is it?

"Designed for LS1, LS2 and LS6 engines when a performance cam is used. This spring, when combined with the appropriate titanium retainer, will outperform almost every spring package in the Gen III engine. This spring is designed for a maximum of .600" lift at the valve, so it is the most ideal spring for most street and mild race applications."

And I copied this directly from Texas-speed.com. I know yours if from comp, but what gives? The specs of my cam are 226/234 .598”/.602” 111LSA +3 advance. It was recommended to use the Comp 918 or PAC 1518 for the cam. I am not very knowledgable at this cam stuff yet so I guess I am just trying to figure this out.

I'm in the same boat as you. There is only a very small difference between the 26915 and the 26918. So then which one do you choose from there. Seems like everyone has a different answer. I'm leaning to the 26918's

 

I was told to use the 918's but my lift is just above .600. So that is why I am trying to find out if I should indeed use the 918's since the lift is apparently .600 by what the manufacturer says. Although they have a vendor saying differently.

 

Call Comp....I'd also trust the manufacturers website over a distributor, unless I'm missing something...?

 

The 918's used to be rated at 0.625" lift and IIRC they lowered it to 0.600" due to their other springs being rated at 0.650" and wanting to boost sales of those. I ran them on a 0.603" lift cam w/ no problems for about 15K miles. I've heard the PACs are better though.

 

Speaking from experience and direct measurment, they will be fine to .625" lift.

Yup. I had them on my cam only set up for 30k of them w/o any problems.

Do you have an extra $200.00? Would it make you feel better to have .650 lift springs?

The ratings changed as Comp changed their 918 springs. The rating was bumped up when they were using their 928 springs in place of the 918's for a while, and the 928's could accomodate more life. I do not know if they have made a change back to the original 918 design or if they just wanted a more conservative rating on them. I've sent an e-mail to our Comp rep, and I will report back with what he says.

Do yourself a favor and use PAC 1518's.

 

I really like the PAC springs also, we stock both the PAC springs & Comp 918s so give us a call & we can set you up with whatever spring you decide! I'd be happy to measure pressures if that would help!!

Another option may be the AFR 8019 springs. They're $15.00 a piece and that will get you .650 lift. That's about the same price as a set of the 918's from Comp. ($42.56 additional to be exact). I'd post a link here, but I'm not sure how this forum feels about their vendors. CF frowns upon that...(Hope it's okay what I posted here). No experience with these springs but Mamo used them in his LS1 build...
