Default Thin head gasket 243 head swap

hey guys im putting a set of ls2 heads on my stock bottom end ls1 and I want to bump the compression a tad bit more by going with some thinner head gaskets but the .040 cometics are like 160 bucks are there any other brands that have a gasket that will bump my compression up but are a bit cheaper?

Screw the cometics. Too many problems with blown head gaskets with those. Just stick with the GM gaskets.

The key to getting any gasket to work well is surface prep. If it's not perfect, keep working on the surface to get it perfect to make sure you have a suitable surface to seal.

As for cheaper gaskets, try Felpro. I think they are ~$45 each.

I think this is a great move. I've had really good luck with a properly installed set of Cometics. I'm going to do some testing on this at some point so I can get you a idea of power gains just from the gaskets.

If you need a set give us a call, we stock every thickness & bore you could imagine!!

I'd love to see the difference in going from a factory mls gasket of 0.056" to a cometic 0.040".
