LS1 hotcam

This is the typical guy who wonders why many others make more HP/TQ and have a faster/quicker car than he does...he's got no plan just goes for the way it sounds...... if you are looking for a good sounding lope and a Steak&Shake idle is what you want any after market cam will work .... just crank the idle speed down till you like the way it sounds...but if you are trying to maximize the performance of your engine you match your components to compliment each other and you pay attention to details and you will reach or surpass your goal...a good example of this the thread where Patrick G outlines how he made more than 500 RWHP with a 346 cu. in engine....he had a plan followed it and accomplished his goal and then some.

The GMPP Hot Cam was designed to be run in a relatively stock engine. The .525 lift is there so you won't have to change out the springs as well. The Hot Cam and ASA cams are great cams for people who don't want to do extensive mods. And the gains from these cams in cam-only installations justify thier design.
I am pushing 410rwhp with a GMPP Hot Cam, mildly massaged LS6 heads and intake, SLP air lid/bellow/MAF assembly, Edelbrock LT 1 7/8" headers, true dual side exhaust with dual SLP loudmouths and crossover, SLP cats, and a modified Diablosport tune. It is very streetable and makes all its power within a very broad usable powerband... for the street. Granted, it isn't a drag or track cam. But it was never designed to be.
I'm happy with it until I can get another 427cid, or better, built. Also, the max power and torque produced by these combos should be just below the threshold of shelling out drivetrain parts. Another plus for someone not wanting to do extensive mods.
