Default measurung valve pre-load?

i know how to measure per-load but know how and doing it are two differerant things. I have a trick flow push rod checker, when im trying to turn it to set zero lash the bottom part of the push rod checker spins and it does not get any longer. and when i can finely set zero lash i have know idea how many times i have turned it. so is the comp cam push rod lenght checker better?

If you can't get your fingers in there to turn it with the rocker in place you just have to keep removing the rocker. I try to set it just under where I think it needs to be, make sure I am under zero lash then open the adjustable another turn and try it again. If you are too tight then go back 1/2 turn. Then if loose increase 1/4 turn, etc. until you home in on zero lash. For the initial checks, just hand tighten the rocker until you are getting close.

My Comp pushrod checker turned so freely that just removing it from the engine caused it to turn.
