Default Another trex thread.

i have been doing ALOT of searching and im thinking im gonna lean toward a custom ground cam but i still have a slight hesitation on not running the trex.

My setup is a forged 347. patriot stage 2 ls6 heads 2.02 intake 1.6 exhaust 227 cc intake runner. pretty big head imo for a 347 but i got a good deal on them so im using them. they have had some work done other then what patriot has done. hence the slightly bigger exhaust valve. ported victor with a accufab. later down the road it will have a bit of spray. my question is how well will the trex work with this setup? the car will get drove on the street every now and then but its more toward the track side.

that would be a mean setup man i saw a trex with afr 205 milled to 59cc with forged pistons with reliefs in it and it made torque pretty quick which stunned me a little ended up with 44x torque and hit just over 500 rwhp

Why not just call Thunder Racing? It is their cam after all. Be honest about your setup and your goals and they will tell you which cam is right for you.

yeah that would be a sick set up. if you dont mind the huge cam then why not. if you dont like it you could always pull it out and sell it. i say go for it

I wanna run the cam for the power and it sound sick i think, only draw back for me is i have a lil higher mileage motor.... Just starting to think it something ***** up then that will give me a reason to go bigger and better...

Everyone that i have heard from that has one loves it, but heard alot of members complain about it. If you like it for what it is do it! But post a vid up after

With T-Rex you'll have to measure PTV clearance.
No 2 are alike and some have been known to kiss the pistons with less than ideal valvetrain. Make sure you have enough springs to handle the rpms and lobe profile.
IMO when you put any cam that big, research carefully and be ready to slap on ALL supporting mods.

with a forged 347 you should have a little extra PtV. Give me or Shane a call at the shop and we will be happy to go over your setup with and get you in the right camshaft

If the car you are speaking of is the one in your sig then i would worry about an intake first. The benefit of the Trex is topend power and high RPM's. The LS1 intake will not be able to support that cam. If you run a trex with that intake then you will not be any faster than if you had a 230ish cam.

Man go with a ms3 cam I had it in my old set up DD and it loves spray. On motor the car ran 11.1 and on a 200 shot it went 10.14 with a 370 patriot stage 3 heads 64cc chamber.
