Default Valve Question

This is embarassing, but which valves are exhaust and which are intake? I suspected an bent pushrod on my drivers side and took everything apart. Now that it's time to put it back together, I don't know which valves are which! I believe that a gen1 is EIIEEIIE from the front of the head, but I assume that's not the case with an LS1. Help!

i'm not sure i follow what your saying here. if you took the valves out of the heads then it should be obvious which one goes where because the intake is way biiger than the exhaust. if the head is still on look for the valve tip that lines up with the exhaust pipe on that cylinder. hope that helps

The exhaust valves are in line with the exhaust port. So find your valve you think is bent and see if there is an exhaust port below it.
