Default ? about Comp 941 springs

Are the Comp 941 springs direct replacements for the stock springs in the 241 heads?

They are good for .600 lift. Does that mean they wont work with a cam that has .605 lift?

I have some that I got as part of a package deal. Just wondering if I should use them or sell them.

Thanks

They are direct replacments and they will work. You just need the right retainer to fit the ID of the spring. You will be fine at .605" lift with those as they are actually a very good spring. Stock Eliminator guys still use those (shimmed to hell and back) with great success turning 8000 RPM+

Holy crap, I haven't seen anybody mention those on this forum for YEARS.

Bunch of folks complained about them breaking years ago. Funny, I installed about 20 sets and never had one failure. *shrug*

So I take it they are an older style and have been replaced with something newer/better? Like the 918?

I have some Ti retainers that came in the package too, so I was planning on just pulling my springs out and replacing them with these this winter, when I do a cam.

Thanks for your help.

Apologies for the hijack!

Shane,

Will these 941's work with the TI retainers I PM'ed you about last week? The ID looks right, not sure how the damper will do... I have a set of these on my GN (turbo) powered truck...

rule of thumb .050 over the final lift, that way if you do the good ol unintentional 3rd to 2nd and over rev you don't mess up something, been there done that. You always want to have a cushion.

Russ,

They won't work with those retainers. The spring ID is too small and when you add the damper, you'd really be in trouble. You need about .002" clearance.

Thanks,
Shane
