your probably the first person ever to say that... coils hardly ever go bad, and it would never be a recomended mod, wait till one takes a **** then reaplce it

to the OP your NEVER going to get your car going with stock gears and that cam. well i dont really mean never, but its going to be a big bitch, and 6th gear is going to be completely useless as far as what rpm's youll be turning

New coils are a horrible idea. Gears are a must or else it's a snail out of the hole.

Both rpm limit,

and power per litre, have a big impact on reliability.
Cams with more than .550+ valve lift also affect valvetrain reliability.

Yep. That's why everyone is recommending gears to compensate for the low torque of that cam. MS4 is a top-end cam.

If you stay with the 3.42's you are going to be disappointed. I stayed with the 2.73's (auto) after my head cam package and I felt like nothing was done to the car so much so that I was pist off. I went to a ZO6 3.42 w/ hardened output shaft on an RPM Stage IV 4L60E = 4.10 for a 6 speed and it woke her right up. I personally would do a 3.90 or a 4.10 with that cam you'll see little to no change in gas millage.
