Default 5.3 cam swap and pushrod length

posted this over on trucks forum, but I would like to hear some more opinions on the pushrod length for my cam swap.

I am swapping in a 02' z06 cam into my turbo 5.3 soon and have a few questions regarding the swap.

I will be reusing the timing chain, replacing the springs with gm yellow 12499224 springs, and replacing the stock pushrods with hardened ones.

Question: what pushrods should I buy? I hear people use the stock 7.4 length pushrods with good results, than I hear I should swap in longer 7.425 since the z06 cam has a .050 smaller base circle. whats better?

any part numbers?

thanks, Matt

Default

the zo6 cam has a smaller base circle....i took .020 off my heads and stock length push rods worked...

so if your heads arent milled and you are using stock gaskets id say a 7.425 would work....its best to use a pushrod length checker though...
