Default Cam Application?

I've got new cam I took out of a GM 2001 Corvette crate motor. It was a 350hp/385 ft# torque. Specs are

218 intake
204 exaust
551 lift intake
555 lift exaust
on a 117

Would this be a good upgrade for a stock 5.3 motor and what would be a fair price for it? I got the specs fron SDPC so they ought to be right.

You have the intake and exhaust reversed. Those cam specs are for the 2002-2004 Z06 cam. It's 204 intake duration, 218 exhaust duration, with .555" intake lift and .551" exhaust lift. The LSA is 117.5. So, if the motor is a 2001, then the cam specs are wrong or they upgrade to the newer Z06 cam.

This would be considered an upgrade to the 5.3, but there are other options out there that would be better. Doing a cam change is a lot of work and should be worth doing. Also, the Z06 cam has a smaller base circle compared to stock cams. You might need longer push rods to compensate. the LS6 motor used longer valves to make up the difference.

the numbers r backwards... its a 204/218, .551/.547, 117.5lsa... and its not a 2001, its a 2002+ LS6 cam... unless it DID come out of a 2001 LS1 motor, then those numbers aren't even close... its more like 197/207, .46x/.47x, 116lsa... the stock 5.3 cam is like 190, .46x, 114lsa... the ls1 cam will move the power way up high in the rpms, where u won't use it, especially if its in a heavy truck...

It was listed as a GM Factory 2001 Corvette crate motor and it came with both the Fbody and the vette oilpans. I know for a fact that it had 241 heads on it so that rules out the Z06. I bought it still in the original crate from Mizfitsmotorsports who was a sponcer at that time. Its a mystery!!! Maybe SPDC will chime in.

If it's a non-LS6 motor, I'd pass on that cam. it's a LOSER.....
