Default LS6 heads on LS1?

Hi, just found a pair of LS6 heads to buy. Just wondering if the piston to valve clearance will change at all or the valve to cylinder wall clearance.

Thanks

It will be a real good upgrade, they will bolt right up and as far as piston to valve clearance it will depend on the cam you have as long as lift goes a touch over .600 lift. PCM tuning you will be ok but wouldn't hurt if in the future you get it tuned. Good Luck

People use the LS6 (243) heads on LS1 motors all the time. They are better than your stock heads and bolt right up.Like exans752 said they will be fine as long as you don't
have too much lift.It would be a good idea to get it tuned, that is what I would do.A lot
of the c5 corvette guys sell them with low miles for a good price.

I believe the durration of your cam has alot to do with the ptv clearance along with the lift

No probs. I currently run ported/polished 243 casting heads with a "mid-range" cam (228/232 .600/.601 111LSA) and have no issues. What I did have to do was increase the length of my pushrods to 7.450". The bump in compression (approx 10.6 from 10.0) is nice for low-end power too.

Lift has very little to do with PTV as full lift occurs near BDC. It is duration that primarily determines PTV clearance.......
