5.3 build help Im going to embark on a somewhat budget 5.3 build over the winter and need some help setting up some specs
I will be dissasembling the motor, doing rod bolts and ported oil pump and passages, new ls2 timing chain, ported heads, cam. I am going to be running a 750cfm carb and MSD 6010.
My question is regarding compression. I will be running strictly N/A and using a pretty big cam, looking at a 235/240 .600/.600 approximately at the moment. This will be a E85 build and see max rpm around 6800-7000, I would like to attain as much compression as possible, at least 11.5 but would prefer to be 12.5:1 or so.
So, for the first go-round it will be stock parts, stock rods and 4.8 flat tops with just a small notch for PV clearance if needed. Assuming i use a .042" CT gasket and can drop the heads to around 56-58cc is this attainable? How small can i get the chambers on them? From what i can gather 5.3s are normally .008" out of the hole so that would put me right at the .032-.034 quench which is optimal and what im looking for, so any comments or suggestions on this would be helpful! Also this is not my first LSx motor its actually the 5th build so im not new to this just like to check things out.

no, street/drag car. I have a couple freind that are running 13:1 and one that is 13.75:1 on E85 and drive them on the street all the time, no issues. Dont think 12:1 or 12.5:1 will be an issue, add in the lower DCR from the larger cam and it is pretty tame
