he means lobe lift on the cam
.643/1.7 = .378
.648/1.7 = .381

honestly that just looks like a larger hyd roller cam. may be fairly big, but drag race only it would work fine as a hyd roller. solid rollers usually go alot larger than you have posted.

Yeah under .400 lobe lift works fine with any of the solid lifters basically.

I wanted something a little bit bigger and something that will work well with about a 100-250 shot. But I do want to be able to drive it on the street a little bit, maybe 100 miles a year.

Is this cam size right up my alley for what I am trying to do?

My ptvc was around .168" int/ .119" ext with a 58cc head, a .0040" head gasket, piston is a -2cc flat top which is .0011" out of the hole. With a T-rex cam.

I would like for the car to be in the 9.90-10.0 range on motor. I want to pick up a tenth or two. What should I do to reach this goal?

JRracing,

Comp has some nice new LS1 lifters that will be out as well in a month or so that look great. I think they will be a very nice addition!

Can solid rollers be used on the street reliably?

Will this cam selection help me reach my goals of picking up two tenths? 245/256 .643"/.648" lift on a 111lsa+4, comp SP/RP lobes. VS my T-rex 242/248 on a 110lsa.

I know there are a lot of varibles but I want to pick up two tenths and have a cam that works well on motor and spray. I want my cake and eat it too. LOL.

On the surface, intake duration between the two appears close enough to be a draw, but one would expect to have more duration at .400 .500 and .600 valve lift. That said, what is your effective duration going to be after figuring in the valve lash on that solid?

It seems like you have ample intake valve clearance - what would you anticipate the results might be from dialing in some additional advance with an adjustable timing set on your existing cam? Certainly a larger split doesn't hurt, but how much larger do you need to run for a "100-250 shot"?

Very good question Hammertime. I have an adj timing set on the motor. But I really do not see that picking up enuff power the reach my goal of going 2 tenths faster. That is kinda why I wanted to put another cam in it. To see if I could pick up enuff power.

I'd probably run even more exhaust lobe for the 250 shot.

More duration or lift on the exhaust?

We are going to start with a 100 shot and by mid to late season work our way up to a 250. If everything holds together and the car will still take more, I may add a second stage over the next winter. But I really can't say that right now. The car may not even like the 250 shot. It may need training wheels. But I think that is gay on a street driven car. LOL.
