I responded to your PM good luck I hope it all works out. Ask your builder about the smoke you are seeing maybe he can explain it better.

Do a leak down test...betcha its high on some of the cylinders. That where blowby comes from.

With an improperly routed/vented PCV system smoke/mist/vapor escaping the crankcase is normal very very normal.

I have to disgree, the PCV system is only able to handle a reasonable amount of crankcase gases. If an engine has HUGE BLOWBY the PCV system will be overwhelmed and large amounts of oil will get forced back into the intake.

I'm not sure why builders don't test BEFORE the engine is in use? If it has alot of leak down its going to smoke and push oil into the intake if the PCV system is used.

A well built engine will have very little blowby and what that means is it has well sealing cylinders. This mean low leak down and no smoke out the oil cap. Also means the stock pcv system will work just fine.

Anyone that has oil and smoke trouble needs to check their leakage and go from there. Whats acceptable leakage for the amount of money you pay??????

Please have a leak down test done and post up the numbers. Be sure its done with the pistons at TDC and BDC. This will check the entire cylinder for leakage through its stroke.

I would agree with a PROPERLY setup/working PCV system. It "seems" this guy does not and any engine from mild to wild unless running a gapless ring will have blowby escaping into crankcase. I was told by the Total Seal tech Ed an engine can produce 5-7CFM of blowby. It certainly wont hurt anything doing a leakdown test. Tho in this guys case I have a real sneaking suspicion if he setup a properly working PCV his "smoke" issue will be gone. Just my .02

If yer motor is huffin like a chimney at idle you got serious leak down issues.
