Default where to spend $2,500

Hey yall! I have a 98' T/A M6 125k miles, with a k&n cold air intake, modded tranny, cutom drive shaft, lowered and has some cool wheels n tires! Now I'm finally ready to add some horsepower....I'd like to have it put out round 400hp or more. I really would like it to be streetable and reliable though. I have about $2500 to put into my ride, and thats it!! I'm not a complete newb, but I'm no mechanic either..... Although, I do have a friend that is very handy with a LS1.

I'm thinkin about headers, cam and intake. Pace setter headers, ORY-pipe to magna flow. For an intake, what about an LS2?....and for the cam???? If I change these, will I HAVE to change the heads too? I hate bein a cheapO with this stuff, but heads are expensive!! If someone could give me alil advice, that would be great!

One of my buds suggested that I just do a used supercharger set up. It's funny....he has a 93 vette w/ a supercharger and he can barely..barely, barely beat me in a drag! He doesn't know how to tune the damn thing obviously!!!

Exhaust, Intake, Cam and tune will get you into the 400rwhp ball park. My brother has a 98 formula M6 135k with long tubes to slp lm1/LS6 intake/cam (219/228 .525/.525)/tune. Last time on the dyno (~3 months ago) it put down 382rwhp. So it shouldn't be that hard to get in that power ball park with stock heads/mild cam/intake/exhaust

Well as you are aware, your options are plentiful. However, it really will come down to your personal goals with the car. What do you want out of the car and how do you use it? That will give us a foundation of where to start.

Pacesetters/ORY/Magnaflow - $1000
Used LS6 intake - $300
Cam Package - $600-800
Tune - $400-500

Should put you close to 400rwhp (depending on cam) and be within your budget. The LS6 intake will make more power than the LS2.

Unless you go to the track and use tires that grip better than street tires then I wouldn't worry about a rear end. I haven't been to the track and mine is holding up fine so far.

Exhaust, Bolt-ons, and cam would be the place to start.
