Default bush stock rods?

When I rebuild, I will use stock rods in the motor and would like them to be set up for floating pin. It hit me today to ask:

"Why couldn't I have bushings pressed into the small end that would take a SBC's .927" pin instead of the LS1's .945" pin?"

It would seem logical that a busing with an O.D. of .945" could be pressed in the rod and then honed out to fit the smaller .927" pin. What do you guys think?

well, that would only give you .009 of material on each side of the pin, providing that the small end is not reamed to a larger diameter.

.945" - .927" = .018"
.018" / 2 = .009"

for all the trouble why dont you just go with aftermarket rods and not have to worry. Heck you can get brand new scat H beam 4340 6.125 rods on ebay for 325.00 to your door! they have big arp rod bolts in them too. By the time you paid to have the above done + rod bolts Im sure you'd be close. Do you really want to risk your motor for a few bucks? I thought better safe than sorry.
