Alright guys, I talked to my motor builder and looks like were ready to rock and roll. I got the motor and tranny out the other week so now its time.
the Ls1 will be bored ten over, and completed with forged internals. He has a bunch of LS6 parts there he said he would sell me at a discount. So we are milling the heads, and I was looking at the 228R cam from TSP to go in, finished off with a LS6 intake.
This was gonna be 5,000 dollars worth of work, basically I drop the motor off and in two weeks I come back and its ready to go back in the car.
Now my question is, would building a good, streetable 383 LS1 be around the same price. This isnt my dd but I want to be able to drive it to the beach and car shows you know what im saying. I saw the kit on TSP for roughly 1700., then I figure the FAST 92 plus TB around 1075, and Stg 2 5.3 L heads with cam to be around 1600 dollars. I understand plus the money for the engine builder to hone the motor out for these parts.
I guess my question is, is the first setup good for the money or would I be better off saving a little more and getting a 383 setup.
Thanks for your time
chris

That also sounds high to me. I'm currently forging my 346 using my stock crank, scat h beam rods, manley pistons, used 5.3 stage 2.5 TSP heads and my budget is 3400 with labor and machine work.
