Just got through re-installing the engine. went to turn it over to build oil pressure before starting it. When I turn the key on the oil pressure guage pegs wide open turn the key off and it only goes back to about 50 pounds. Any Ideas what this could be?

 

Anyway to tell if it is the sending unit or the gauge? or maybe a short?

 

sending unit bad. must replace with new
