Question Piston and connecting rod?

I came across these Scat 6.125 H beam 4340 rods. Anyone here use these? Are these comparable to Eagle rods? I'm looking to build a strong bottom end to handle a 200 shot. I also read somewhere on here that SBC rods have an offset and LS1s are on center. I am assuming they mean the wrist pin. I see Diamond offers LS1 pistons for the 6.125 rods. Are they made to accomodate this offset? If not could I still use them?

The offset refers to the crank pin end. Scat and Eagle rods use Chinese forgings, which have had problems with brittleness (i.e. snapping) when subjected to high RPM/cylinder pressure.

What would be a good rod to use? Would the offset wear the engine out faster or is the problem nothing to worry about?

The offset is definitely not good. If the rod is not centered on the pin (at the piston) it will side-load the piston and cause wear on the cylinder walls nearest the pin location. The engines that use an offset rod are designed so that the big-end offset actually centers the rod on the piston pin. Hope this line drawing survives being posted. It is a little exaggerated, but hopefully it will get the point across.

As far as which rods to use; Carillo, Lunati, HTC or one of the others that use American forgings with a centered design will be fine.
