24X LS2 Crank In LS1 ?
Any reason a 24X reluctor 05 GTO LS2 crank could not be used in a 98 LS1 block? My GM parts guy says it is a different part# than a LS1 crank. I've looked at the production dimentions and they seem to be the same. The only thing I can figure is the balance may be different. Any other differences I'm not aware of or has anyone used one in a LS1 with no issues?

Sounds like it. You probably should have had your old crank rebalanced with your new rods. Why don't you call the machine shop you are going to use and see what they say about it. Be sure and tell them what rods and pistons you plan on using with the LS2 crank. I know Charlie at Folks Machine in Norman has a lot of experience with Gen 3 motors.

That's correct! Take them the pistons, rings, rods, and rod bearings so they can do the balance job right!
