Default Stroke/rod legnth question

Considering I want to build an all stroke 396 using my stock LS-6 block with a .005" hone, would a 4.125 stroke, and 6.200 rods be feasable? Using my calculation of:
4.125/2=2.0625 + 6.200 (RL)=8.2625- stock deck height of 9.240"=.977" compression height. Is this liveable or would the 1.05" compression height of a 6.125 rod be better? I'd like to use the longer rod to decrease side load, but would like the most out of the set-up. I'm not even sure if my calculation could be considered as correct, but somone should catch on to my gist of things.
