Anyone ever break a Comp 918 on a .590+ cam?
Why should I go with 918's instead of a double spring? Do the double springs have too much pressure or something? Bad on the lifters or something? Just curious as to why people run 918s instead of doubles.
What were the details on the cam size? Were they the newer blue stripe springs? And how much was he spinning it?
If I should get the TSP cam I would not spinn it past 64-6500.
I ran 918's for a long time and most of my friends run them with no problems.I ran them for a while on my .598 lift Cam then recently switched to Cranes for a piece of mind that there spring is rated to .650.
No floating evident on the dyno, and the stock bottom end let go with the springs still intact. Many mid 10 second runs at 125-130mph.
IMO they are a good spring. I am using a set from late '01 without any issues.
I guess i'd opt for the doubles if i'm going to run 590+

I have also known many people who run 918s with .581 lift setups and serious abuse while still holding up....
