yup thats kind of what i was thinking but i dont think it is that simple. with the iron block and all the parts that i am willing to give up to remove weight the car will be around 3500 with me in it. let me go ahead and let you know were i stand. i have already got a 6.0L block, 3.71" stroke crank, scat rods with arp 2000 rod bolts, custom diamond pistons, apr head studs, pacesetter headers, LS1 edit, and a custom comp grind on the way. it is a very long story but i only have about $500 invested out of my pocket so far and yes it was legal . none of the parts are on the car just yet. also all labor to the car is done by myself so that is a hugh money savings right there. i desinged this short block to accept 900hp chemically asperated since 9s are in my future plans but for now i will be happy with a 10.50 or so. also another money problem is because it is a M6 car and it aready broke 1 axle, 1 gear set, 2 3-4 syncros, and 1 clutch on the stock 12 second motor. i figuered that with my weight, i will need atleast 650hp to run the number i want for now.

Its going to cost him more than $500. He mentioned he got the block for free. Where is the rotating assembly, machine work, assembly, etc?

well, when i say out of my pocket i mean that literly. i am a technition at a chevy dealer hear in corpus and i get ahold of the engine cores that are replaced from time to time. thats how i got the block for free. i also got other engines before and sell them in peaces to buy other parts i need. then there is the side jobs that i will do to get certain parts. so then with in 6 months i only spent $500 out of my pocket for the short block. i did this in the past in order to get my 69 in the 10s. now that the 69 is put up, it will be used as a doner for other parts i need like the rims, mufflers, 400THM, shifter and even part of the NOS system. see the thing is, is that my wife will not let me very much money on it so i impervise hehehehe.
