Default Recommend me a camshaft

OK guys, Im looking for a different cam for my new build. its just a stock bottom end LS1, with arp's. Below is the rest of the combo. Im looking for something pretty wild. Im willing to fly cut the pistons up to .080

Patriot Stage II heads 2.055/1.570 59cc
LS6 intake
Edelbrock 1 3/4 stepped to 1 7/8 headers
Off road Y pipe
Magnaflow catback
TH350
FTI 4400 stall
4.10 rear gear
28 tall tire (currently have 26, but want to go with 28 with the 4.10 gear)
Car has minor weight reduction. Removed complete a/c and heat, ducting, tcs, abs, cruise control, rear seats, rear belts.

So, my question is, what would you guys do for a cam? lets here it. backing it up with a similar combo or results would be awesome too. Im looking in the 24X/24X range most likelly.

Trex cam and if you can squeeze a FAST intake, youd be getting high 400's. Maybe even low 500's if your tune is dead on.

I am not a fan of PP heads, so I would use something in the X3 range on a 110-112LSA with a 106-108ICL imo. I've gone 10.80s with a 228/232 112/106 cam fwiw. You can get there with smaller cams, just make sure its got a ton of torque where you need it. The BIG 24X cam kills to much in the middle imo, and just give you peak hp. 11.25scr atleast and let the motor breathe! Ported FAST 78/90/92 works awesome.

Only reason im using them heads, is because they came on the short block. i thought about selling them off and getting a set of used TEA's or something along the same price. Also, the low to mid range im not too awful worried about since I have a 4400 stall. Mid to upper is where i need it to pack a solid punch.

mild LS6 heads with a ported FAST 78 with a SS3800 stall. Pred Z specs something close in the 230/230 range and it has gone that fast as well.

Yeah your BIG stall, gear ratio, and tire size and your goals put you in or on the "kill" mode column. LOL I would use something along the line of Comps LSL Lobes on the 239/243 .624/.624 111+2 range imo. Lets make sure you got atleast 11.25+ SCR and try and fit a FAST intake in you santa list or your budget? LOL

forsure man, KILL mode is what we are going for!!!! I just put the heads up for sale so if I end up selling them (have a couple people interested) ill buy a set of used TEA's and see if I can squeeze a used fast in there too.... I cant wait for this thing to hit the streets

TEA does very good work and there heads make power. I like that you are going to run 28's, because that's the only way that thing will get a great 60ft time imo. If I lived closer to you, Id race you in the small cam car and see how you liked it? LOL

My last build was a smaller cam, and I loved it! But this time around im going for something just a little bit more serious. My last cam was a 226/230 .609/.588 on a 111+1. Anyhow, it was a fun setup, but now I want more

my mods are pretty close to you and I got spec'ed a 242/248 .621/.615 112+4 LSA for my car. Gonna be putting in a FLT stg 7 with 4k stall and going with a carbed style intake for the spray.

Yeah I hear you. Trust me, you can put to much cam in it and upset the combo and make it not work like it use to. I've done it once. I see you have quoted one of my sentences and put in your screen name? LOL

Considering his 4400 stall and th350 tranny, I wouldn't expect dyno numbers anywhere near your guess, but I would expect his car to ET nicely provided he gets the car to hook up.

WOW !!!

That cam looks amazingly similar to mine. 239/243 .623/.623 113+3 !!!!

Drives like stock in my 402 with m6 trans and 3.42 gears.
