Default heads

I have a 5.3 in a pick up. I am going to put a set of 241 heads on it. Will it help me or hurt me buy putting these head on.They have been ported and polished and shaved some. Dont know how much they have been shaved for sure. Should i put a ls 1 intake on it instead of my stock intake

I don't know about the heads but whatever you do put a ls6 intake on it it's the best bang for the buck if your going to change out the heads, while your there.

stock to stock you'd probably be about the same.

241s whill lower the compression, but have bigger valves. the flow is probably too close to really make much of a difference.

BUT
if the 241s have been ported and milled...you could gain nicely. on a stock engine you could still see 20hp...possibly more depending on how worked the heads are.

i would leave the truck intake on. it has been shown to flow similar to the ls6, except in the upper rpm i think. after all it was designed to make power down low.

ls1 would be a downgrade

Did just anyone port the heads or were they ported by a respected head porter?
