You can but the manifolds are going to choke off your cam.

Why the hell buy a pullout for an engine that is knocking? You probably won't need heads/intake/etc etc.. Chances are you only need a shortblock. You already have sensors and everything.

Seems to me you are looking to be spending WAY more money than needed.

Yes the external accessories and valvetrain that fit an 04 LS1 will also fit your 99.

If you have a local machine shop you trust you ought to consider just rebuilding what you have. It'll take ~$800 in machine work or less and a $1700 forged rotating assembly already balanced from Texas Speed to get what you need to have a fresh bulletproof shortblock. If you don't plan to spray much get the Scat I beam rods with 7/16" bolts instead of the H beams and that'll knock off about $200 that would about cover the cost to assemble the shortblock. Lots of Gen I SBC and SBF guys are running these rods to over 7000rpm and 600hp. just a thought...

Better still would be an 04 which had the LS6 block, many had the LS2 timing chain and many of the blocks are drilled for the later LS2 timing chain damper even though the LS1 didn't come with one.

good info. vettenuts.wonder if my 35th have these.I know it had a ls6 intake,ls6 block and better oil cooling passages.others you mentioned not sure.

When I had my heads off last time I verified I have the LS6 block. Unless your 02 is a very early motor, it will have the pistons and rings.

Be careful running a vette LS6 intake...I've seen some of them without the ability to bolt a throttle cable bracket on because the threaded brass inserts just aren't there...so if you're intending to run the manifold off of whatever engine you get, you should probably look at that and make sure it will work for you first as the F-Bodies are all cable driven TB's.
