TFS assembly questions
TFS assembly questions I have a set of 215s that need to be assembled and I was wondering if it would be possible to do it myself or if I should just take them to a machine shop and have them do it. I have a friend that has all the tools to do it. Is it important to check installed valve heights, coil bind, and whatever else need to be checked. There is a well known is a shop that is near by that I would probably trust should I just have them do it ?
We always check every installed height, and all of the spring pressures, the coil bind should be ok, but is worth checking. You can have your buddy buy a height mic from Comp Cams and have your local shop test the springs.
Why are the heads apart? If they are fresh heads or haven't been touched, then the original work by TEA should place the valve stem heights correctly in the head and it is just a matter of reassembly and measuring to get the valve spring seat values. If someone local has messed with the valve seats or valves then I would really check them thoroughly.
If they haven't been modified then assemble them yourself if you have the tools. It is not hard with the correct tools and you will be able to get your valve spring seat values, etc. as TEA mentioned in the above post.
