Trick Flow 220cc "as cast"? comments?

Trick Flow 220cc "as cast"? comments? I am in the market for a good set of heads but without killing my pockets too bad. i just wanted to get some of your guys opinions on the TFS as cast heads. pros? cons? or are the cnc heads really worth the extra grand vs extra hp/tq. i have already bought all the supporting mods for heads to include the roller rockers and such. im running a stock bottom end. my goal is to get close to 450 to 460 hp NA. what do you all think?

yea i think im going to rock the trick flows and see what happens. i can always get then cnc down the road. thanks for all your guys comments.

but can the as-cast heads be cnc worked to flow like the other i guess non as-cast? I guess I am just asking if I where to get the as-cast heads to save $ now can they be upgraded to equal the performance of the other TF heads in that size?

Call VENGEANCE RACING. They would have about all answers for Trick Flow heads. And of course TEA. The as cast are kick *** for the price. HP difference is so minimum that your getting an as cast head with CNC performance. You saying CNC down the road? like the 220s? Going bigger on displacement? Just asking cause seeing at what one would be looking at to do that-like open up chambers to desired bore size. the CNC program(bigger runners). Its something I thought about as well. But just decided on opening up the chambers to meet the bore of my engine. Anyway-a profesional builder/shop can better give their .02 cents.

CNC will produce roughly 12 to 15rwhp MORE than the As Cast head. The As Cast will save you 700.00 and still perform better than 95% of the cylinder heads on the market
Yes, you can CNC the As Cast heads down the road. They can be finished out to a 225 and up CC Runner and perform as well as the factory CNC pieces.

Ron, I saw posts where you used to say the "as cast" were down on the dyno only 8-10 rwhp, now its 12 -15 ?? Just curious is all. FWIW to the OP, I talked last week to Brian from TEA, and his exact words were roughly 2 hrs. and $200 of work (give or take)to hand blend and port some critical areas of the "as cast" heads, finished off by a flowcheck should have them right there (probably within a couple cfm) of the CNC 215's. Take that for what its worth. A full CNC of the intake ports was not needed.
If you want to save even more the tea stg2 ls6 heads will flow close to, if not better than as cast. Savings because you don't need rr. But what the guy above me said its pretty cheap to bring the 220s up to 215's level. All of this from TEA
Thanks Ron for the clairification. (Damn I need to learn to spell better) But to the other post-How do expect to go from a 220 runner to a 215 from a CNC program? Your taking away not adding to. Unless someone out there is putting epoxy in the runners and then trying to pass them off. Or welding up the runners. Im running ported LS6 heads and really like them. They have a 2.05/1.57 valves, I have a -4cc piston, and about to order some TFs next week. uncle sam was nice to me this year. And my wife. well now Ex-lol. And I am searching as well on the as cast against the CNC. I already have Yella Terra Rockers. But I want to go one step further and run a 3/8s P/R. I love displacement-But want a mean an nasty 347. That can be cruised to sonic on pump gas.

Actually Im doing my LS6 heads to stage 2 by TEA this spring when I do my H/C/I. Brian recommended it and wasnt trying to "sell me" $$$ TFS heads. Yes my LS6 heads will be practically bang for bang from .200 up to .600 with the 215 heads. Just a bit bigger intake port. ( 219cc vs 225cc). Yes the stage 2 243's flow more than the "as cast" 220 outta the box since they equal the CNC 215 TFS head.
