Default ls1 reading low temps after changing ect!!

Well first off my temps were reaching 200-205 fan kicking on at 195-200. So told gforce to put the fans on at 170 but they werent kicking in till later. So i decided to buy a new Engine coolant temp sensor becuase the old one was old and little corroded. After changing it my temps never pass 165-168 and fans are kicking in at 160 now is my guage right or is my ect actually do its job better than the old one.

I think that 165* is a little cold is that running temp or idling temp. Meaning is that when your on the highway or at a stop light. I think 180* is ideal. Maybe am wrong.

yea....put your thermostat back it...it is really bad for the motor cause it doesnt heat up fast enough and you could damage your heads or your block

why in the hell do you want your motor to run at 160? That is plain dumb and you gain nothing by doing it.

Agreed.

Not to mention you're probably not ever entering closed loop with temps that cold. No bueno.

175-185* is about optimal temps. Put a 160 stat back in and turn your fans on in the 180-185 range.

It's easy enough to find out if he's in closed loop by connecting a scan tool. I find it hard to believe the temp didn't change with or without the thermostat. I tried that once thinking it might bring the water temp down, but it did just the opposite. The coolant was racing through the radiator so fast there wasn't enough time for the air passing over the cooling fins to pull the heat away and the water temp actually went up without the thermostat.
