I have a 5.3 and am running NA and thought decking the stock heads and installing bigger valves maybe a cheap way to make some more hp. I can get the machine work done for free just wondering if anyone has done this and what size valves you get to clear the stock 5.3 bore. I would be decking .030 off the heads which should bring up to about 10:1 CR.

you can do a 2.02 1.60 set up. the compression with .030 milled off would put you around 10.4:1

Iam trying to do the same way of getting a 5.3l heads and doing just a valve change and port them later ill milled them to 59cc
