I have a question about oil consumption!

I am currently using Mobil 1 synthetic 5w30. I am having to put 1 to 1 and a half quarts between changes. My question is will going to a thicker oil like 10w30 reduce my oil consumption? Also I was told by putting in thicker oil that I will lose HP, is this true? Thanks for your help!

I was told to use Mobile 10w/30, I did, and still do since buying the car. I do get about a half a qt loss after 3k miles, included are about 50 nitrous assisted track passes each oil change. The .3576hp you might lose will be worth it, basically the small amount if any from the two oils is so minimal...
