I have a friend of mine who is wanting to tear down his 5.3 long block, and is looking for a online guide to help. Any suggestions?

 

Check out www.ls1howto.com... I don't think they have a complete tear down on there, but once you get the heads off and cam removed your just left with the rotating assembly which is pretty straightforward as far as disassembly. Putting it back together correctly is a little more involved.
