Well im tryin to learn a lot and ask a lot dumb ace ?s in the process even after reading stickies. I have a 5.3 im borin out to fit ls1 pistons and it is possible bcus ive been running that same setup for a year in my truck. My ? is about heads, a guy has a set for 150 bux they r 706's but r those good heads for this motor and if not what do u guys reccomend. I plan on only gettin around 400hp out of this motor so any ideas would be much appreciated!

I'm running 706's on my H/C LS1, but they are the TEA Stage 1.5's. Stock, won't be so great, but ported yes.

Ive heard or been told they will bump up compression a bit on an ls1. But is there a better stock head to use than these? I can always get them ported or milled but what head?

243/799 castings are the best for a 3.9 bore.....

in imo I prefer 5.3l heads with upgrade intake valves 2.0 and ported would work well...but 243 are better stock and even more ported or milled...
