Will P/V clearance be an issue with this setup??
This may have already been asked before, but i couldnt find exaclty the details im looking for so im coming to the experts. Im looking at getting a set of the Stage II LS6 Patriot heads, i have a stock cube 01' and will be using a G5X-2 cam. Using stock style head gaskets and if these heads are not milled and use stock deck height will i be able to get away without fly cutting the pistons?? Im jsut wondering if it will work but be on the ragged edge or absolutley not. and would the 5.3 heads be completely out of the question with out fly cutting??
Thanks,
Tom
Thanks,
Tom

both sets of heads can be used without flycutting.
the LS6 heads will allow you to up the compression.
the 5.3 heads wont allow any milling so compression will not be affected.

Which would be the best pick??? im looking for the possibility of high 10's-11 teens on a 3400lb race weight car. The Stage II LS6 jobs flow some mad air and the 5.3's are a little more conservative in the flow dept but use a 61cc chamber vs 64cc of the LS6. So you get the benefit of 11.0 comp ratio vs 10.5.

You can get the patriot stage II LS6 styles with a 59cc chamber. That's the head I'm running right now and I like it. I don't feel like it is LOADS better than the 5.3 head, but I wanted the compression increase without milling my heads any and causing a situation that would require flycutting.
