Default Head Gasket Question

I'm swapping 243's onto my '98 z. My question is, do I need to get '98 specific gaskets, later gaskets ('99-'02), or are they all the same. Just looking to use .052 MLS gaskets. Thanks

My car is also a 98, and the gaskets sold to me were 98 specific gaskets. The 99 and later were a different part #.

The MLS gaskets will work fine with your 243 castings. The only time you have to use graphite (98-00) gaskets is if your head castings have a "notch" along the deck surface on the exhaust port side. The MLS gaskets will not seal and you will have a massive coolant leak with those heads. All 243 castings are fine with MLS gaskets. We have them here:
