if i recall from when i changed the heads on my car i had to get some valve covers, coil brackets, and the coolant x-over tube under the intake , and rework the pcv a little( so long ago i cant remember exactly what i had to do but it was simple)

No problem whatsoever. I've had LS6 heads on my car for a few years. Make sure you reuse your coolant temp sensor as the '98 have a three wire where the other years of two wire sensors.

i did a ls6 head swap on my 98 TA in the summer
I got most of the parts i needed from the ws6store.
-head gaskets
-head bolts
-new header gaskets
-spark plus
from the ls1tech classifieds:
-99+ valve covers
-coil pack brackets
(keep an eye on ebay as well)
from Metco Motorsports
-valve cover breather (i deleted my PCV system and just ran an open breather setup)
you dont need an ls6 manifold. you might as well swap one in while you have it off, but its not necessary to complete the job. if you dont got long tube headers, you might want to install them now while you got the best opportunity. you can also install poly motor mounts easily with the manifolds and heads out of the way as well. get a coolant temp sensor and an OPSU now. I broke my coolant temp sensor while reinstalling the headers and had to wait a week for the part store to get one in stock as the coolant temp sensor and OPSU are specific to 98's only
