Valve Spring Question
Hey guys right now i'm thinking about getting a set of 1.8 roller rockers and then eventually an LS6 cam to put into my truck. This should give me a lot of lift and i was wondering what people's opinions are of this and if the comp 918 springs would be up to this? Or do I need something else? thanks
If you are going to install a cam, I'd say you need to save the money from the rockers and just buy a cam with the lift you want. You'll save several hundred dollars and get the same end result.
the new harland sharp rockers are $285 and the LS6 cam is 200 new. I dont think the price would be that different. The main reason im thinking of doing it is because im gonna wait and do the cam with heads at the same time, but that wont be for a while. And i figured id try the rollers for now and see what I gain from it.
Well I think the "baby" cam will do fine in my motor. I need a blower cam and Im not gonna go to extreme because i still have a boat and other things that this truck has to pull, and Im not planning on doing it now either. . .
but aside from that, will the 918 springs be ok with a valvetrain with that much lift?? I know its not huge but I was just hoping for some input because I dont want to worry about breaking valvsprings and coils binding and things like that

02+ ls6 cam your looking at about .584/.579 and .555/.555 with the 01 ls6 cam. the lobes are fairly mild as well so the cam and rockers are well within the 918's ability. but i agree with jon, its cheaper and better to just have a custom cam ground to your specs with the lift and duration you desire then it is to do ls6 cam + rockers.
