changing oil pump

just curious its just bolt off and on right i wan t to replace it cause i heard 97-00 LS oil pumps are known no go out or should i leave it how it is

Yes, it basically just a swap in and out, but you need to be very careful reinstalling it and replace the pick-up tube o-ring. It is not uncommon for people to roll or pinch the o-ring when reinstalling and then you end up with very poor oil pressure.

Get a new one. Make sure and take your time and get the O ring correct. I disasembled my pump to verify this step to eliminate any questions later on.
Do a search on low oil presure...
