engine rebuilding ?
can you use diamond pro rings on stock pistons. i am rebuilding my first ls1 and the cylinders were pretty glazed up. so i did a clean up hone, i didn't go nuts just wanted to give new rings something to seat against. can i use the 3.905 diamond pro rings on stock pistons, and what should the ring gap measure on a naturally aspirated engine. thanks
Best bet would be to contact Diamond. Rings made for a 3.905 bore might not be able to be "squished" (for lack of a better term) to fit and 3.898 bore. Also, honeing is a bit more important than running a dingleberry through the cylinders. For a good ring seat, the cross hatches have to intersect at a certain (I think a 45*) angle for moly rings.
I can shift faster than you.

You can use the 3.905 file fit rings for a stock bore. I have used them on quite a few stock rebuilds with good luck.
I'd set the ring end gap set at .018 top/.022" second for a n/a motor.

You could use the 3.905 bore rings, you will just be filing them a little more than normal. The best bet would be to get our 3.898 ring set for a stock bore with just a deglaze hone. If you need them I have the 3.898" bore rings in stock. Give me a call if you need anything.
