Post cam/heads intsall woes
Post cam/heads intsall woes Got the car up and running tonight, after taking it all back down again due to the torn [ickup tube oring, yes i know. First start everything looked good, oil pressure up to 50 psi at idle and goes up with the rpms. However, the car searches for idle if i rev it and it doesnt recover, car dies. I go to start it and i have to give it gas for it to keep running. I got it to idle again and sprayed carb cleaner around the intake to find a vac leak, but i cant find one. Checked all my vac lines and they are good. Right now the intake is off the car because i wanted to check for vac leaks behind the intake. Wierd thing is that every so often when the car was running ( me giving it gas to hold at a certain rpm) it would make a loud pop. I've heard similar popping before when one of my plugs was cracked and that was compression getting past the plug im guessing, but i was told these pops were coming out of the exhaust.
Anyways, gonna get some new plugs tomorrow and put the intake back on and see if i can't get it to idle and run decently well, untuned.
BTW, cam is a 228/232... nothing crazy. Heads are stock 243's.
